Yreka seeks vendor to digitize records; clerk says online access will be limited for confidential items

City Manager said the administration has released an RFP to digitize municipal records and save them to the cloud after noting that filing cabinets hold single copies of important documents. "We have an RFP out on the street to digitize the records, so we now have them saved in the cloud," the manager said, noting the change would reduce staff time and the risk of record loss in a disaster.
City Clerk Cindy Prosky said the RFP includes provisions to keep confidential records protected and that the clerk's office will control which documents are made public online. "With this RFP, we do have to make sure that some of the documents that would be available online are not confidential documents, which we still have. I will be in control of those still," Cindy Prosky said when summarizing the digital-access plan.
