District staff told the personnel committee on Aug. 4 that a compensation study for administrative and professional-technical employees is underway and will include options such as certification stipends, longevity pay, and possible post-employment benefits. Director Anne Utech said the work included focus groups and comparables with other districts and that some items will require costing before any formal recommendation.
Utech said OPEB (post-employment benefits) is uncommon among comparable districts and described a possible three-tier approach being modeled: "So it'll be, phase 1 or tier 1 was you get full benefits, and that'll run through 06/30/2029. After that, for the next 10 years, tier 2, you would get a dollar amount. And then that will run through 06/30/2039. And then after that, you go into tier 3." The administration said Britney and staff would work on pricing proposals and that a total compensation statement will be generated for employees now that the fiscal year has closed for 2026.
Board members asked how to compare heterogeneous 'professional technical' roles across districts and expressed sensitivity to keeping administrative footprint small so dollars remain classroom-facing. Staff said the comp study will attempt individualized comparisons and return cost estimates before advancing recommendations to the board.
