Yreka to pilot rubberized chip seal in northwest quadrant; striping limited by county equipment

Public Works Director Matthew Bray said the city is piloting a rubberized chip-seal surface for roads this year, focusing on the northwest quadrant where crews have been prepping streets. "We're converting that into a rubberized chip this year... it's predominantly what we call the Northwest quadrant of town," Bray said when asked which areas are included in the plan.
Bray said the work will be financed with Measure C funds and RMRA (SB1 gas-tax) revenues and that bid packets include ad alternates that could extend work to additional streets and parking-lot projects. He also told council members the county has been providing striping but currently lacks a striper truck; the city will sign bike corridors 'share the road' until the county can resume striping or the city chooses to buy its own truck in a future budget.
