Marquette County accepts FEMA hazard‑mitigation grant, approves $4,500 local match

“A grant through the hazard mitigation grant program … has been awarded $13,192.88 in FEMA funding to update our hazard mitigation plan,” said Amy Stevens, planner with Marquette County’s planning division. Stevens told the board the plan had expired in January 2026 and required an update; staff requested a $4,500 general‑fund match to complete the project for a total of $17,692.88.
A commissioner moved to authorize the chair to sign the agreement and the motion carried on a voice vote. No opposition or roll‑call dissent was recorded on the grant acceptance during the public meeting.
Why it matters: Hazard mitigation planning is required for federal grant eligibility and for local preparedness. The awarded funds will be used to update the county plan so the county remains eligible for future FEMA mitigation assistance.
