City manager presents 58-item work plan, asks council for August feedback

Yreka's city manager presented a prioritized 58-item work plan aimed at focusing staff effort through the end of the year and into January, asking council members to submit feedback by Aug. 18 so funding can be tied to the October budget process.
The Yreka City manager presented a prioritized work plan at the council's Aug. 4 special meeting, saying staff had narrowed roughly 130 outstanding projects to about 58 initiatives the city can complete in the near term. "We really want to highlight what's going on with your community and, focus in on a few key areas because there are roughly over a 130 projects that are outstanding in the city, but there's no way you can accomplish them all," the City Manager said.
The plan groups projects into buckets — ongoing programs; policy and regulatory work; planning; finance and administration; and infrastructure — and assigns expected timelines and funding paths. The manager asked council members to review the spreadsheets provided to them and submit any revisions "by the 18th" so staff can incorporate changes before a September focus and tie projects to funding during the October budget process. Council members praised the visual layout and the accountability the plan creates, while also asking that the work not become excessive reporting for staff.
