The Whitney Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 29 to adopt the district's 2024'25 tax rate by ordinance at 0.9938.
The action followed a public meeting portion of the agenda during which Presenter Tamara Harrison discussed the 2024'25 budget and tax rate. Board Vice President Jason Sneed made the motion to adopt the tax rate; Board member Amy Hoffman seconded. The board recorded a unanimous vote in favor. The ordinance establishes the tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year and was adopted during the regular course of the special meeting.
The decision came alongside board votes to approve the district's 2024'25 budget and to amend the 2023'24 budget. The board met in closed session earlier in the evening under Texas Government Code Chapter 551 (sections 551.072 and 551.074) and returned to open session to complete the listed actions.
