Trustees hear Electric Committee report: outages, IMEA/IMUA grant and surplus of old sirens

During the Electric Committee report, Public Works Director John Tolan said several large limbs caused outages. He described an IMEA/IMUA federal mutual-aid grant that would establish a storage yard in Springfield containing poles, transformers and an easement machine; participation would require communities to track outages.
Trustee James (Mike) Blaies moved to declare removed warning sirens surplus property after ESDA Coordinator Gene Kramer and Tolan noted the village no longer had use for the old sirens. The motion carried on a 5–0 roll call with one trustee absent. The Electric Committee also discussed staffing after one lineman rescinded an acceptance and recommended hiring a replacement (Nolan Toennis), which the board later approved.
