Council approves $124,742 change order for Gary Avenue reconstruction; most costs covered by federal funds

The council adopted Resolution R‑2026‑10 authorizing Change Order #1 to Agreement No. 455 with Thomas Engineering Group, LLC for Phase 3 construction engineering services for the Gary Avenue Reconstruction Project in an amount not to exceed $124,742, bringing the total award to $649,707. City Manager Michael Dzugan told council the change order reflects delays encountered on the project, and Director of Engineering Joseph Tebrugge said the greatest delay was due to AT&T.
Tebrugge also reported the project is in winter shutdown under a State contract and that lights delayed by ComEd were expected to be energized within the next two weeks, weather permitting. City staff confirmed about 70% of the $124,742 change order would be paid with federal funds administered by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference.
