Mannsville supplying about 100,000 gallons a day to Ellisburg after pump failure

The Village of Mannsville is temporarily supplying water to the neighboring Town of Ellisburg after Ellisburg experienced a pump failure, Water Operator Norm Jones told trustees at the Sept. 10 meeting. Jones said the interconnect was opened on Aug. 31 and the village is pumping about 100,000 gallons per day to Ellisburg until their pump is repaired.
Jones said the increased pumping has raised operations at the Mannsville plant: filters were changed in the pumphouse, and the plant is running an estimated eight to 18 hours per day, increasing filter and chlorine consumption. Trustees asked for cost and operational impacts to be tracked while the interconnect remains open.
