Mannsville board reviews finances, flags $2,000 fraudulent-check recovery issue

The Village of Mannsville Board reviewed its monthly treasury report at the Sept. 10 meeting, where Clerk/Treasurer Paula Easton presented account balances including general checking $110,651.74 and water checking $50,632.85. Easton told trustees 15 overdue village tax notices were mailed this month.
Easton also described a recent banking complication: Chase Bank returned $2,000 that had been cashed in fraudulent checks on the village water account, but Watertown Savings Bank then reclaimed the $2,000 because it had already reimbursed the village for the theft. The board approved the bills presented for September on a motion by Trustee Valerie Deon, seconded by Trustee Charlie Graves.
