Wheaton College gets council approval for library additions and partial demolition

The Wheaton City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance O-2026-10 to grant Wheaton College a special use permit for a one‑story addition on the north side and a three‑story addition on the south side of the college library at 510 Irving Avenue. City Manager Michael Dzugan advised the Planning & Zoning Board unanimously recommended approval of the special use permit and the demolition of a portion of the existing library.
The ordinance approving the special use and demolition was passed on roll call without opposition. Council members and staff recorded that the Planning & Zoning Board had thoroughly reviewed the proposal and recommended approval with unanimity.
