The board read and approved a resolution expressing formal support for a NYSDOT engineering and traffic investigation of the Boston Post Road (U.S. Route 1) corridor near several district schools. The resolution asks for a corridor-level school safety evaluation and continued coordination with the Town, NYSDOT Region 8, and local legislators.
A district staff member described the multi-year effort and said the town passed a matching resolution to show unified community support. "When you look at the accident data from that area, there's literally hundreds of accidents over the past decade there," the staff member said, urging targeted traffic engineering and a slower speed zone. The board authorized district administration to provide supporting data and transportation observations to NYSDOT and local stakeholders.
