Public attendee announces cancellation of agenda item; speaker postponed to another meeting

During the public audience portion of the Jan. 14 meeting, Gustavo Acevedo informed the board that a scheduled speaker would not appear and that an agenda item would be cancelled and rescheduled.
Acevedo told the trustees: "John Shergold was going to speak on agenda item X. A. 4., which is going to be cancelled for this evening due to a conflict that the attorneys who are handling this matter for the district are not going to be able to attend. That item is going to be cancelled for tonight and set for another meeting." The minutes record the announcement but show no further discussion or a vote on the item.
The board proceeded with the agenda and later entered closed session for personnel and attorney consultation; the cancelled item is expected to be placed on a future agenda.
