Superintendent announces two principal hires, internship and staffing updates

Dr. Sampson said Tina Ponce will become principal at Murray Avenue School effective July 1, noting her prior service as assistant principal and acting principal. He also introduced Dr. Andrew Hamilton as the new principal at Chatsworth Avenue School, highlighting his years of experience in the Elmsford Public Schools.
Dr. Sampson recognized Excellence in Education award recipients (Joe Laverde and Karen Kane) and praised interns Max Cooper and Megan Hugelmeyer for their capstone project evaluating the high-school “cube.” He said the district is working with SUNY and county partners to build apprenticeship pathways and described internship conversions to paid summer positions as a workforce-development outcome.
On staffing, Dr. Sampson said the district was “almost fully staffed,” noting that at one point there were about 55 openings and that the updated salary guide has led to fewer candidates lost to neighboring districts. "I think there are 55 openings for full time faculty and staff," he said in the meeting record while describing hiring progress.
Dr. Sampson also reviewed upcoming dates (Mamaroneck High School graduation scheduled for June 23; Homix on June 25) and said a refreshed curriculum section of the district website is expected by Sept. 1.
