The Red Oak Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 4–0 June 9 to deny a Level 3 appeal filed by Brooke Wright, upholding the administration’s prior decision.
The board convened into closed session at 7:01 p.m. to hear the appeal, then reconvened into open session at 7:49 p.m. Under agenda item 7.B., Sean Kelly moved that the board deny the appeal and uphold the administration’s prior decision; John Anderson seconded. The minutes record the motion and a 4–0 vote in favor (Melanie Petersen, Sean Kelly, John Anderson and Michelle Porter voting yea); absent members were Johnny Knight, Donna Knight and Brian Sebring.
The agenda cited Texas Government Code sections authorizing consultation with counsel and closed deliberation on personnel- or student-related matters (551.071, 551.074, 551.0821). The minutes show the hearing was conducted pursuant to Board Policy FNG (LEGAL) and FNG (LOCAL); they do not include additional public testimony or a recorded amendment to the administration’s prior decision.
That portion of the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.; the minutes were signed by Melanie Petersen, Board President, and Sean Kelly, Board Secretary.
