Town engineering staff told the board that a new dredging permit for the Holland Street boat ramp has been submitted after the town concluded it could not simply extend the existing permit.
"We did end up having to submit a new one," the engineer said, and the board discussed options for dredge material placement and whether the town could perform the work itself. Speakers noted conversations with Mike Putnam about possibly doing the dredging in-house and borrowing county equipment; they also discussed the potential need to rent a silt curtain and to identify project costs before committing to work.
Board members agreed staff should continue to coordinate with contractors and the county and to report back with cost estimates and a timeline once the permit review progresses.
