Staff told the board the town has received initial notice indicating an award of $1,400,000 toward the Swan Hollow bridge project but that multiple permitting steps remain before construction can begin. The grant would require a local match of approximately 5%, which town staff estimated at about $75,000 and recommended the town budget the match in its highway fund.
A staff member said, "We have a letter saying that we're going to be awarded $1,400,000," and cautioned that the state and federal permitting, historic-preservation sign-offs and design submissions will likely delay construction into 2026. Staff recommended hiring the top-ranked design firm from the RFP process to begin the design submissions (30, 60, 90 and 100 percent) necessary for permit reviews and funding compliance.
