Riviera ISD reports top RSSI FAFSA and college-application rates; strong EOC pass rates

Superintendent Jarrah Dobson told the Riviera ISD board on May 28 that the district ranked first among RSSI districts for both college application and FAFSA completion rates. "Riviera ISD is currently ranked 1st place among all RSSI districts for both college application and FAFSA completion rates! 100% of our seniors (45 out of 45) applied to college. 98% (44 out of 45) completed their FAFSA," she said.
Dobson also presented preliminary End-of-Course exam results: "Algebra I (8th Grade): 100% pass rate! 5 out of 9 students scored at the Masters level. Biology: 100% pass rate with 22 students reaching Meets grade level or higher." She noted that summer EOC retesting helps students reach graduation requirements, but those retest scores are not included in accountability ratings.
The board did not take action on the report; members asked for continued monitoring and said staff should share final STAAR results once the Texas Education Agency releases them. Dobson said final STAAR results for grades 3–8 are expected Friday and that the district would share updates when available.
