The Riviera ISD Board approved a resolution to designate ten non-business days that will not be counted toward Public Information Act (PIA) response deadlines during the 2025–26 school year.
"We are required to respond to Public Information Act (PIA) requests within 10 business days," Mrs. Flores explained, "Designating certain non-business days gives us some flexibility when the district is closed, like during holidays." The board approved the designation unanimously.
Administrators said the calendar adjustment prevents the PIA response clock from expiring during known closures—for example, a request received late on the Friday before Christmas break would pause while the district is closed. Trustees recorded the motion and passed the designation to maintain compliance while accounting for district operational days.
