Wimberley ISD updates strategic plan work on community excellence, smartphones and Narcan outreach

At the Oct. 28 meeting, Lori Pharis, Director of Student Support Services, briefed trustees on Priority 3 of the district strategic plan — Community Excellence — describing the Culture Committee’s ongoing work on student smartphone and social media issues. Pharis said the committee meets twice monthly to develop recommendations for the board and administration.
Superintendent Dr. Bonewald described recent community engagement, including a Narcan meeting that was open to the Wimberley community and a Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce State of the District presentation. He also noted Facility and Ambassador Task Forces are active in implementing strategic-plan recommendations.
Pharis’s update signaled an interest in managing student social-media impacts and fostering community partnerships; the minutes do not include committee recommendations or proposed policy language. Trustees were informed of the committee schedule and community outreach events that support the strategic-plan priority.
