District to focus on literacy, math and career pathways; Junior Achievement partnership expands

Terry Connor, superintendent of Sarasota County Schools, said the district will keep its focus on core academic skills — particularly literacy and math in early grades — while expanding exposure to college and career pathways. "Our focus will always continue to be ensuring that students have the very best educational experience... and that comes with having exposure to rigorous content," Connor said.
He highlighted partnerships such as Junior Achievement and the 3DE program, which connect students with the business community and problem'solving case studies to develop workforce competencies. Connor said the district will continue scaling career technical education and other pathways so students can explore multiple post'K-12 options, from college to the workforce or military service.
Administrators said more detailed program information will be available through school communications and district partnership offices.
