The Rotary Club asked the Village of Margaretville Board on Feb. 17 to support a summer block‑party event intended to draw residents downtown.
Joan Lawrence‑Bauer, speaking for the Rotary, said the event would not be a fundraiser and described its format: "The Rotary Club would like to recreate that this summer just as an event to bring people to Margaretville. It's not a fund raiser." She proposed Friday, July 24 with a rain date of Saturday, July 25, and suggested two possible hours — either 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. — with a band on a flatbed, invited food trucks and at least one port‑a‑potty. Lawrence‑Bauer asked whether electricity would be available in the parking lot and said she would submit the official application.
Trustee Sara Hubbell said she would circulate the town's food‑truck application and policy for the board to review at next month's meeting. No vote was taken; the board asked organizers to provide the formal application and continue coordinating with village staff.
