District communications leaders said the district launched ParentSquare and that more than 2,700 accounts had been activated; the communications team will staff back-to-school events this week to help families sign up and will provide Spanish-language support at the outreach tables. Leaders also reminded the board that staff return and convocation dates are Aug. 10–12 and that the first day for grades 1–8 is Aug. 13.
Community outreach staff said two back-to-school events will distribute 3,000 prepared backpacks and host roughly 40 community agencies. The first event is scheduled Friday, Aug. 7 at John Jay (11 a.m.–1 p.m.) and the second at Oasis on Aug. 8 (11 a.m.–1 p.m.). Transportation routes will be posted in Skyward the following day and teacher assignments are available in the system; staff emphasized ongoing communication to families and encouraged parents to check Skyward for bus routes and classroom assignments.
Communications staff also explained junior-high ParentSquare features are scheduled for January implementation, with full staff rollout phased in the next school year. The board and staff encouraged families to activate ParentSquare accounts and to attend the outreach events.
