District says daycare now has sprinklers; staff seeking larger HVAC unit

District staff told trustees that the daycare building received sprinklers Friday, enabling outside landscaping and other next-phase work to proceed, but raised a separate concern about the building’s HVAC capacity.
"They just got sprinklers on Friday," the staff member said of the daycare building, noting that the sprinkler system allows progression to landscaping and other exterior work. The staff member added that the daycare has been used all summer while HVAC issues are addressed.
On HVAC, the staff member described the unit as undersized and said the district is "scrambling to try to trade in that unit for a larger unit, to address that." The presenter said the immediate worry is winter heating because staff cannot use space heaters in rooms with small children; temporary window air conditioners had been used over the summer.
Board discussion continued to other agenda items after the update; no formal vote on daycare capital work was recorded during the meeting.
