The San Isidro Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an update to Board policy EIC (Class Ranking) at its Dec. 18, 2024 meeting, and directed staff to add the dual-credit conversion language to the student handbook.
Board member Aisha Reyes moved to approve the policy as presented, and Ricardo Vela seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously among members present (Yea: 5, Nay: 0, Absent: 2). The Board’s discussion noted the addition of "weighted" grades to Valedictorian/Salutatorian (Val/Sal) calculations as an addendum to the policy.
Roger Ellis presented the item and explained the policy changes to trustees. The approval updates how dual-credit coursework will convert for class-ranking purposes; the Board also asked that the handbook wording reflect the conversion method adopted by the policy. The change takes effect immediately as a Board policy action; the student handbook insertion will follow administrative update procedures.
