Superintendent Michele Pillari reported to the board on Safe Schools Data System (SSDS) incidents for the reporting period of July–Dec. 2024, providing a breakdown of confirmed and alleged HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) cases and other disciplinary incidents.
Pillari said the district recorded 8 confirmed HIBs and 13 alleged HIBs. The reported categories included 4 incidents for race, 13 for other distinguishing characteristics, 3 for sexual orientation and 1 for mental/physical/sensory disability. Other incidents listed were 1 weapon (lighter), 1 fight, 2 confirmed substance use, 4 substance possession, 2 simple threats and 2 other incidents leading to removal. Investigators were named for each school and the status of investigations was reported as closed.
The superintendent also summarized remedial and disciplinary actions: one student received four days of in-school suspension and recommended remedial measures included restorative practices, counseling and referrals to therapy where appropriate.
