Kings Cons. SD 144 board approves 2025–26 levy, adopts Policy 120 and hires classroom aide

The Kings Consolidated School District #144 board met Dec. 19 and approved several routine but consequential items, including the district levy for 2025–26 and personnel actions. Board President Jake Good called the meeting to order at 6:05 P.M.; roll call reflected four members present and three absent.

During the financial report the board reviewed balance sheets and levy materials and then voted to approve the 2025–26 levy. "It was moved by L. Teut and seconded by K. Osborne to approve the Levy for 2025-26," the minutes record. The motion passed with four yes votes, zero no votes and three absences. The board also adopted Policy 120 on its second reading after a roll-call vote, with the minutes noting the policy was "adopted as listed."

On personnel matters the board accepted the resignation of Jacy Bradley and approved the employment of Genny Szwiec as a classroom aide for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year; the hire was moved by Kyle Osborne and seconded by Logan Teut and carried on roll call. The consent agenda — including the Nov. 19 open and closed minutes, bills and payroll — was approved earlier in the meeting by similar vote totals.

The superintendent's report in the minutes is brief, noting that important items were sent by email and that building updates were discussed. The board set its next regular meeting for Jan. 21, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. in the school library. The minutes also note an executive session was held to consider personnel matters concerning specific employees, with any motion from that session deferred to the open meeting.
