Kincaid trustees say codifier will draft updated village ordinance supplement

Trustee Warren told the Oct. 28 committee meeting that he and staffer Jayme reviewed the village’s past ordinances, digitized the relevant chapters (noting much of chapter 11) and assembled proposed changes so the village could request an updated codification draft from the state codifier. "He said to put it all together and once it is done with the meeting and explaining everything tonight then to send him this and he will do a draft of the new codification and send us a draft," Warren said of his conversation with Frank at Illinois codification.

Warren said the codifier estimated it would take about three and a half hours to walk trustees through the process and that it may require a special meeting to review the draft. He noted updates include items such as military leave, employee leave, new holidays and a revised overtime law; Jayme now has the ordinances and proposed changes on her computer to track future edits. No ordinance amendments were adopted at the meeting; the next step is to send the compiled materials to the codifier and schedule the review meeting.

The report is procedural: trustees have prepared a consolidated package for formal codification that will be returned as a draft supplement for trustees to review and possibly adopt at a subsequent meeting.
