Resident raises concern that trustees lack recorded Open Meetings Act and FOIA training certificates

During public comment, resident Kerry Vacker said she filed a FOIA and found records indicating that, aside from ‘Beverly,’ no trustees had training certificates on file since 2019 for required Open Meetings Act or FOIA training. Vacker said she had asked trustees about completion of the training at an earlier meeting and thought the records were missing from the clerk’s files.
Trustee Warren said the clerk had the certifications, and Clerk Jayme explained training had been completed through the Illinois Municipal League (IML) and those certificates are kept in the office. The exchange left the board with a directive to confirm and, if necessary, collect and file outstanding certificates to ensure compliance.
