Staff told the board the staff handbook was updated to add the executive director of human resources to the organizational chart and to remove the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska tuition‑reimbursement program because the grant ended during 2025–26. A presenter said the substitute handbook includes a $5 increase for most substitute pay and a $1 increase for paras who clock in and out (from $20 to $21).
Staff described changes across several site handbooks: middle and high school attendance adjustments (some thresholds reduced from 15 to 10 days), consolidation of technology guidance (all Chromebook and device rules moved to one section), transition from paper "blue slips" to an electronic hall‑pass system, and new language on chronic illness documentation at SHS. "We also added the addition of the executive director of human resources throughout the document as appropriate," a staff presenter said when describing the district handbook updates.
The board moved through the handbooks as separate motions and approved each as presented. Board members and staff emphasized that many edits were formatting or timing updates to align site handbooks with district policy; clerical cleanups and statutory updates were noted throughout the discussion.
The changes take effect for the 2026–27 school year; the board listed August 6 as staff start and August 13 as the first student day.
