Consultants: design package will be ready, but HMGP construction funds not yet available
Summary
Stone Environmental said the study will produce concept design, benefit-cost analysis and application materials for one selected alternative, but noted there is currently no open HMGP construction round; the town will keep an application 'on the shelf' for when funding opens.

Presenters told the Select Board they plan to advance one selected alternative to concept design, produce a benefit-cost analysis and prepare an application package that can be used when grant funding becomes available.
Megan Arpino summarized the next steps: "moving into the concept design phase for the selected alternative, hoping to have all of that work wrapped up for design by the end of October and then the report at the end of November." She added that "there isn't currently an open round of HMGP funding," so the design package will position the town to apply when HMGP or other opportunities open.
Board members and residents discussed whether some of the work could be advanced locally without waiting for federal grants; consultants said that decision depends on town funding priorities and feasibility. Staff said they will bring decision slides back to the next meeting so the Select Board can choose which alternative to move forward under the study scope and finalize the application-ready design materials.
No construction commitments were made at the meeting; selection of the single alternative to progress to design will be on a future agenda.
