Town corrects tax‑bill PO box after printing error; staff to mail postcards

Town Manager Josh Hardison told the Select Board that a printing error caused some recently mailed tax bills to list PO Box 288 instead of the correct PO Box 285. Staff reported that some mailers used 288, which the box owner has been redirecting into the town's correct box; the town updated the website, will post a notice on forms, and will mail postcards to taxpayers to clarify the correct remit address.
Hardison said staff has contacted the post office and the owner of box 288; if the post office can forward or reassign mail, that would reduce confusion. He asked taxpayers to use PO Box 285 and said the town will be lenient where a postmark corroborates timely payment. "So, just a public update, PO Box 285, please," he said. The board asked staff to track affected payments and apply for forbearance if postmarks show timely mailing.
