Regional council briefs commissioners and requests same 2027 contribution ($7,700)

"We've secured more than $2,000,000 in funding just through technical assistance and grant writing," she said, attributing successes to the council’s expanded capacity.
The council asked the county to contribute the same amount as in prior years — $7,700 — which serves as local match to access federal Economic Development Administration funds and other grants. Commissioners noted the request is already in the preliminary budget materials and did not oppose the ask during the presentation.
Shannon also summarized regional efforts: workforce development partnerships, tourism promotion tied to the library opening, and a business retention initiative. She described the council’s role as a conduit for technical help that enables smaller communities to pursue grant-funded projects.
