The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors voted Aug. 3 to set a public hearing for Monday, Aug. 24 at 9:00 a.m. on plans, specifications and a cost estimate for phase 2 of the Community Service Building repairs. Chair announced the documents will be available for public viewing in the county office one week before the hearing.
County development director Eric Furnace described the work as largely exterior repairs to address water penetration, saying, "Mainly, it's gonna be exterior joint ceiling and tuck pointing up, around the building where we're still getting some water penetration." The board approved setting the hearing by motion and voice vote. Supervisors and staff also discussed the building's heating and cooling systems; Furnace said the building has about 12 heat pumps and staff plan to replace units as they age rather than doing a full system swap.
