The San Elizario Independent School District board held a public hearing on the proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2024–2025 and adopted a resolution to set the rate on Sept. 17, 2024.
Norberto Rivas, the district finance presenter, laid out the proposed rate and opened the floor for public input; no members of the public offered comment. Trustee Lorenzo Luevano moved to adopt the resolution and Trustee Sandra Licon seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote, six in favor, none opposed, with Trustee Guadalupe Caro absent.
The board took the action after a standard public-hearing period required by statute; Rivas indicated the proposal and supporting materials were available to trustees for review. Board President Eduardo Chavez did not request a further postponement and called for the vote following the presentation. The board did not amend the proposed rate during the meeting.
