Board approves community events: Irish Night, homecoming parade and Turkey Trot

The Board of Trustees approved a package of community-event permits during its Aug. 12 meeting. Resolution 17147-2024 authorized the Ancient Order of Hibernians to hang a banner on the LIRR train trestle and to hold its annual Irish Night in Brady Park on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The resolution passed after a motion by Trustee Tina M. Schiaffino and a second by Trustee Todd A. Svec.
The Board also adopted Resolution 17148-2024 permitting Massapequa High School to hold its annual Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 19, 2024, and Resolution 17149-2024 allowing YES Community Counseling Center (75 Grand Avenue) to sponsor a 5K Turkey Trot in Brady Park on Saturday, November 23, 2024. All three event approvals recorded unanimous AYE votes; the minutes do not record conditions, fees, or special safety plans for the events.
