County staff presented an interlocal agreement to renew animal-control services with the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area for fiscal year 2026. Commissioners discussed operational changes and thanked the district attorney's office and the City of New Braunfels for partnership; one commissioner noted the agreement is an increase from last year and that some contract terms will be revisited next year.
"We did ask for a couple of changes that we'll look at in the next year," one commissioner said, describing a shift away from per-intake billing to a cost-sharing model with the city. The court approved the interlocal agreement and authorized the county judge to sign.
Staff and commissioners framed the change as streamlining operations and improving reliability for both the county and the Humane Society in the coming year.
