She said the town is pursuing multiple grants, including a Hudson River Greenway application due May 2 that could award up to $20,000 for open-space protection and recreation planning, and a larger municipal parks and recreation grant (applied through the New York State consolidated funding process) with an award limit she cited as $1,000,000.
"We could be awarded up to $20,000," Lux said of the Hudson River Greenway grant. She also described an opportunity through a Partnership for Climate Action funding program that would support fellows to help communities organize outreach; the fellowship could provide roughly $22,000 per fellow for a year to support community planning and outreach.
Lux and other board members said they are exploring grant writers and planning consultants (naming River Street Planning and Development and Teague & Bond as potential resources) and will return with recommendations on whether to contract outside assistance. The board discussed using the small climate-smart task force budget for pilot events, swap shops or a town-wide garage sale and whether to hold events at the new pavilion once it is complete.
