Santa Rosa ISD trustees received a construction and bond-allocation update during their Oct. 21 regular meeting. Ernie Villarreal, PMSI bond project manager, told the board the CTE/Early College building has a construction cost of $2,842,564.07 and was listed 50% complete with a contract completion date of March 12, 2025.
Villarreal identified several unforeseen items that could add cost, including roof repairs at parapet walls, HVAC duct redesign near an existing steel column and reinforcement of four classroom walls to support HVAC units. The written bond-allocation table included in the packet showed total bond funds and allocations; the remaining bond balance was reported as about $3,320,833.75. “Projected Completion 3/12/2025. Percent Complete: 50%,” the project summary states.
District and contractor paperwork listed upcoming milestones — electrical grounding, continued HVAC ductwork, IT cabling and fire‑sprinkler coordination with the Cameron County Fire Marshal — and flagged pending purchase orders for specified repairs. Board members asked staff for weekly construction updates; Villarreal indicated weekly Friday updates would be circulated until completion. The board took no formal vote on the update; it was presented for information and monitoring.
