Red Lion Borough staff reported that notice to proceed for the 2026 road-improvement contract was signed and work began March 23, with a planned completion date of August 20, 2026. The project includes sidewalk and ADA stormwater work at Country Club Road and South Franklin Street; adjacent property owners will be notified by mail, and work at that intersection is planned to start after the school year ends to limit student-transportation impact.
Council also noted that the Charles Street bridge improvement was approved for an LSA Class 4 grant in the amount of $72,234. Finance staff confirmed that a second grant from Open Space Improvements (Marcellus Shale) for $14,651 will cover the required match, so no borough funds are needed for the match.
Other capital items discussed included a Vulcan Lane building-painting quote of $21,670 that exceeds the $20,000 budgeted amount; council must decide whether to increase the appropriation or rebid the work.
