Parents, teachers and alumni tell trustees Kindy Academy would benefit Lisle

Supporters of Kindy Academy made a sustained case that the school delivers rigorous academics and community benefits that would help revitalize a vacant office building and the Cabot Drive corridor. Speakers included Kindy teachers, administrators, current parents and graduates who described academic outcomes and extracurricular achievements.
"Kindy Academy is the most intentionally kind learning community that I have ever been a part of in more than 30 years," teacher Mark Jones told trustees during public comment. Yeshmina Laga, an attorney and daughter of Kindy’s founder, credited the school with intentionally cultivating excellence and argued the village should be "lucky to have Kindi Academy grace it next." Director of curriculum Savima Mishovsky described plans for a library, art studio, makerspace and full science labs at the proposed Cabot Drive campus.
Multiple parent speakers emphasized local economic effects, saying parents patronize nearby businesses and that graduates have gone on to selective colleges. Proponents asked the board to consider the school’s track record (including regular community food drives that feed hundreds annually) and to help the school resolve licensing and technical issues needed to move into the vacant building.
