Comal County proclaims November 2025 'Operation Greenlight' for veterans

Comal County Commissioners on Oct. 30 read and unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing November 2025 as Operation Greenlight for veterans.
The proclamation—adopted by voice vote—cited veteran service organizations, national participation by counties and the intent to light the Comal County Courthouse bell tower green during the observance. On behalf of the county Veterans Service Office, staff thanked the court and described local veteran numbers. "And just so that you know, we are quickly approaching 17,500 veterans in Comal County," said Kenneth Gershon, a retired U.S. Marine and representative of the office. The office invited the public to engage with county veteran services during the observance.
The court’s action was symbolic recognition and does not create a program budget; the proclamation encourages residents and businesses to display a green-white-green light in support of veterans. The court also authorized the courthouse bell tower to be lit green during the designated week.
