Mayor Aleksa Keithan reported that she and the council president signed a letter of intent that will allow the mayor to perform marriage ceremonies going forward and reviewed the documentation and reporting required. The solicitor clarified that the money from performing marriages “does go to the mayor and not the borough.”
Keithan also offered community updates, including praise for recent events (the capsule and Give Local events) and a Mother’s Day greeting. The mayor encouraged neighbors to check on those who may need help with yard maintenance. Council did not take a formal vote on the matter at this meeting; staff will work with the solicitor on the necessary paperwork and reporting guidance.
