The board received a virtual presentation from Amber Lasseigne of Moak Casey on the Seguin ISD Efficiency Audit 2024. Lasseigne summarized the audit's findings and answered trustee questions about operational efficiencies and potential cost-saving recommendations.
"An efficiency audit is now a requirement prior to a VATRE (Voter Approved Tax Rate Election) unless the district qualifies for an exemption," the presentation noted. Trustees had the opportunity to ask questions about the audit's recommendations and the staff clarified follow-up steps if the district pursues a VATRE. The audit was described as part of compliance and planning should the district consider voter action on tax rates in the future.
