Staff noted that faucet-level filters would be cheaper but that the whole-house UV option would provide better bacteriological control and lower maintenance for tenants.
Commissioner (Speaker 2) moved to select the whole-house UV option (the staff-recommended choice) and cited rental revenues as a reason to fund the roughly $2,800–$3,000 purchase and installation. "I would make a motion that we would do the 1st option for... the whole house UV," the commissioner said. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote; commissioners said they will monitor rent revenue to cover the maintenance and replacement cycle for the unit.
