The town clerk and tax collector told the board she is setting up a remote check scanner to reduce delays and the risk of bounced checks during tax season and is discussing an online payment option with Edmonds that would allow residents to pay by credit card or ACH online.
"I'm in the process of setting up a remote check scanner deposit machine for my town clerk and tax collector accounts," the clerk said, noting it will speed deposits and reduce trips to a bank in inclement weather. She added that Edmonds' credit-card option likely carries a roughly 4% fee for the payer, and the town is exploring ACH as a no-fee alternative. The clerk also reported she processed a library petition for a proposed $4.14 levy, estimated to raise roughly $18,000, and returned the approved petitions to library organizers.
