Comal County proclaims 'Tree of Angels Day' and recognizes National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Comal County Commissioners Court approved two proclamations Nov. 20 recognizing community efforts to support victims of violent crime and to raise awareness of hunger and homelessness.
The court read and approved a proclamation recognizing Dec. 3, 2025 as Tree of Angels Day, a holiday program that invites families to place ornaments in memory of victims and missing persons. The proclamation noted the county’s support for victim services and encouraged community participation; Commissioner Webb moved the motion and Commissioner Crownover seconded.
During the reading of a second proclamation recognizing National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 16–22, 2025), Alice Jewell of the McKenna Foundation told the court local partners were actively distributing food and shelter services and said organizers planned “to feed 1,500 families today” at a nearby distribution. A representative of the San Antonio and New Braunfels food banks described pressure on the local food bank network and thanked the court for support. County staff also reminded departments of the Holiday Hope drive and noted that “$1 can give 7 meals” to the food bank.
The proclamations were approved by voice vote; the court encouraged residents and businesses to support nonprofit providers and volunteer efforts.
