Mercer County commissioners approved Resolution 2026-284, a Human Resources packet that included new hires for the jail (Sonya Weaver and Leilani Bryant as full-time corrections officers), law clerk hires for the Public Defender's office (Margo George and Jessica Rolke), a recorder clerical assistant (Justine King), multiple transfers and separations, and a Chief Public Defender start date (Autumn Johnson, effective Aug. 8, 2026).
The board also confirmed the reappointment of Dawn Smith to the MH/ID Advisory Board for an additional term (Resolution 2026-285). Votes on personnel and appointment items were unanimous. The meeting record lists grade/step and effective dates for each personnel action but does not include individual candidate backgrounds beyond position titles.
