Board approves sheriff patrols at Stoneboro Fair, association to reimburse county

The Commissioners approved reimbursed public safety patrols by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office at the Stoneboro Fair and required the fair association to add the sheriff's office to its liability insurance.
The Board approved Resolution 2026-295 to allow the Mercer County Sheriff's Office to provide reimbursed public safety patrols at the Stoneboro Fair from Sept. 2–7, 2026. The Stoneboro Fair Association must add the sheriff's office to its liability insurance as a condition of the approval, and the county will be reimbursed for patrol time and mileage.
Chris Baer of the Stoneboro Fair Association told the commissioners the security detail "helps protect the citizens and guests at the fair," and noted five missing children were located with the Sheriff's Office's assistance in past fairs. Capt. Chad Rowe commented the Sheriff's Office is happy to assist "for the benefit of the County." The resolution passed unanimously.
