Officer Bongiorno accepted outside job; village accepts resignation and reclassifies him to part-time

Lieutenant D. Barnett read a letter from Police Officer Art Bongiorno informing the board that Bongiorno had accepted a full-time position with the Town of Newburgh and requested a change from full-time to part-time status. The board accepted the resignation with regret and voted 4-0 to reclassify him from full time to part time.
Barnett praised Bongiorno as "a great officer and asset to the Village" and said the department currently has two qualified applicants undergoing background checks: one is an NYPD officer who could be hired as a lateral transfer and the other is a correctional officer who would need to attend the police academy before joining the force later in the year. Barnett also reported the department's computers are functioning and highlighted the investigative value of the newly installed Flock system and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
